Masoor Pulao
2 cups Basmati rice
1 cup Whole Masoor
3 tomatoes
5-6 green chillies
1 large onion
2 potatoes, cubed
2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp whole garam masala (pepper, jeera, tejpatta, dalchini, lavang)
1 tsp garam masala or biryani masala
1 tsp dhania powder
1 tsp red chilly powder
1 tsp haldi powder
1 bunch corriander leaves
1 tbsp pudina (optional)
1 tbsp lime juice
Salt
3 tbsp Oil
6 cups water
Soak masoor for 2 hours, Soak rice for one hour.
Heat oil in kadai, add whole garam masala, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and saute. Now add, onion and saute till brown. Add red chilly powder and dhania powder, haldi powder, salt, haldi powder and saute. Add tomatoes and saute for some time. Add corriander and pudina leaves and saute. Now add potatoes and masoor and some water and let it half-cook. Now add the rice and add the remaining water and lime juice. Let it cook on medium flame till done. Garnish with corriander leaves. Serve with tomato-cucumber raita.
