Masala Khichdi
2 cups rice
1 cup moong dal
1 tsp jeera
4 tomatoes, chopped
5 green chillies
1 tsp red chilly powder
1 onion, chopped
1/2" ginger chopped
1 cup chopped vegetables (potato, carrot, beans, green peas)
1 tbsp whole garam masala (dalchini, lavang, pepper)
1/2 tsp hing powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt
turmeric powder
2 tbsp Oil
1 tbsp ghee
Corriander leaves
Soak the rice and dal in water for about an hour.
Heat oil in kadai, add whole garam masala, jeera, ginger and saute. Add onion and saute till its pink. Now add the tomatoes and let it cook. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilly powder and saute. Now add the vegetables and lime juice and saute. Add rice and dal. Add enough water and let it cook. Add ghee. Lastly garnish with corriander leaves.
