Chutney podi (gunpowder) - For Idli /dosa
Red chillies - 8-9
Green chillies - 3-4
Ginger - 1", chopped
Chana dal - 2 tbsp
Urad dal - 2 tbsp
Tuvar dal - 2 tbsp
Rice - 2 tbsp (preferably kolam ukda chawal)
Tamarind - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Small onions - 5-6
Cashewnuts or peanuts - 6-7
2 tbsp coconut oil
Salt
Roast all the above ingredients separately except green chillies, curry leaves and ginger. In a kadai add 2 tbsp coconut oil, fry small onions, curry leaves, ginger and green chillies separately, one by one. Let it cool. Powder it in mixie. Add salt and mix well. Gun powder is ready. Enjoy it with idli/dosa.
