Kerala Chicken curry

This is the traditional way of making chicken curry in Kerala.

1 kg chicken
2 spoon red chilli pdr
3 spoon dhania pdr
½ spoon saunf
½ grated coconut
9-10 small kerala onions
2-3 spoons curry leaves
1” ginger
Salt, turmeric

Clean and wash chicken. Crush ginger and 3-4 onions. Mix it in chicken along with salt, haldi pdr & some curry leaves and marinate for 1 hour.

Roast chilli, corriander and saunf and make a paste of it and add to the chicken. Now cook the chicken in a kadai after adding 1/2 cup water.

Roast grated coconut along with curry leaves and 3-4 onions in 1 spoon coconut oil, till coconut is brown. Make paste and add to chicken after chicken is cooked. As soon as it starts simmering, remove from heat. Season with 3-4 small onions in coconut oil. Serve with pathiri or rice.

Note: If possible, whole chilli & corriander to be used  and powdered.
